Position overview
We're seeking a talented Intern to join our International Business Development team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in strategic planning, market analysis, and deal evaluation in a fastpaced and dynamic BD environment while working on China-originated assets with potential for international and global impact.
Highlights of the opportunity
• Mentorship: Work closely with experienced professionals in business development and gain valuable
insights into the industry
• Exposure: Develop a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical landscape, including drug development, regulatory affairs, market trends, deal transactions, and interacting with AZ’s global BD network
• Impact: Contribute to critical decision-making processes and potentially influence strategic partnerships
• Skill Development: Enhance your analytical, research, and financial modeling skills
Key Responsibilities
• Market Research: Conduct in-depth market research to identify potential business opportunities and
assess competitive landscapes
• Financial Analysis: Develop financial models to evaluate the profitability and risk associated with
potential deals
• Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of strategic plans for business growth and expansion
• Due Diligence: Assist in due diligence on potential partners or acquisition targets, including scientific,
financial, and legal aspects
• Presentation Development: Prepare presentations and materials for internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating findings and recommendations
Working time
Please note the availability requirements before applying with CV:
• Working days per week: ≥3 days, 5 days preferred. This internship is preferably onsite in Shanghai.
• Internship duration: ≥3 months preferred
Position requirement
• Education: Pursuing a PhD or MBA degree in a relevant field such as life sciences, business or
economics is a plus
• Experience: Prior work/internship experience in top consulting, investment banking, healthcare VC/PE,
pharmaceutical companies (BD/R&D/Strategy) is highly preferred
• Skills: Very strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent command of English in written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and as part of a team
